Marketing attribution consulting

Connect marketing activity to pipeline and revenue.

We design and build attribution systems for companies whose CRM, campaign, and revenue reports do not agree. The result is measurement logic your marketing, sales, and finance teams can inspect—not another black box.

When marketing attribution consulting becomes necessary

The problem is rarely a missing chart. It is usually a disagreement about identity, funnel logic, source data, or what “influenced” actually means.

  • Marketing, sales, and finance report different pipeline numbers.
  • Platform-reported conversions cannot be reconciled to closed revenue.
  • First-touch and last-touch reports lead to opposite budget decisions.
  • Campaign naming, UTMs, and CRM source fields are inconsistent.
  • Multiple contacts contribute to one B2B opportunity.
  • Offline referrals, events, and partner touches disappear from reporting.
  • Only one person understands the attribution spreadsheet or tool.
  • Leadership cannot explain why a channel received credit.

What we build

The implementation follows the business question and the data you can support. Not every company needs algorithmic multi-touch attribution.

Foundation

Identity and source mapping

Connect contacts, accounts, opportunities, campaigns, and revenue with stable identifiers and documented source rules.

Logic

Attribution models

Build first-touch, last-touch, linear, time-decay, influenced-pipeline, or custom business rules that stakeholders can inspect.

Decision layer

Revenue reporting

Publish channel, campaign, pipeline, CAC, and revenue views using agreed definitions and tested transformations.

An important limitation

Attribution measures evidence. It does not prove perfect causality.

A credible attribution system makes assumptions visible and supports better comparisons. It cannot know with certainty which single touch “caused” every sale.

  • We separate sourced, influenced, and self-reported attribution where useful.
  • We validate outputs against known opportunities and business context.
  • We recommend experiments or incrementality analysis when attribution alone cannot answer the causal question.
  • We do not manufacture precision the underlying data cannot support.

From diagnosis to a system your team owns

Define

Agree on the decision, funnel, attribution questions, and stakeholders.

Inspect

Assess campaign, CRM, product, revenue, identity, and reporting data.

Build

Implement tested models and reporting in weekly, reviewable milestones.

Transfer

Document the logic, train the team, and remove our access at handoff.

What we need from your team

You do not need perfect data. You do need access to the people and systems that define how marketing becomes revenue.

People

Business and system owners

Someone who owns marketing measurement and someone who understands the CRM or revenue process.

Access

Minimum necessary visibility

Read or export access to relevant campaign, CRM, revenue, and current reporting data.

Decisions

A real business question

The budget, reporting, or operational decision the attribution system must support.

Marketing attribution consulting FAQs

Do we need a data warehouse first?

No. We recommend the smallest reliable architecture. Some engagements use an existing warehouse; others begin with CRM exports or a governed reporting process.

Which attribution model is best?

There is no universally best model. The right approach depends on your sales cycle, available identity data, offline touches, decision being made, and how much complexity your team can maintain.

Can you work with HubSpot or Salesforce?

Yes. We can work with CRM data alongside advertising, web analytics, product, billing, and warehouse data. The specific sources are agreed during the Blueprint.

Do you manage campaigns after building attribution?

No. We build the measurement infrastructure and reporting. Your team or agency continues to manage media, creative, SEO, and campaign optimization.

What if our tracking is incomplete?

That is common. The Blueprint identifies what can be answered now, which gaps materially affect decisions, and the collection improvements worth prioritizing.
